Well, the subject pretty much sums up what I have to say...

I'd love to coordinate, but I haven't the time. I will, however, be a mere member of the squad.

I definately want to be a part of this, but currently I dont think I have the money to spend the amount of time online to organise that I would like. I could still be a part of it though.

Free internet access from 19th Sept here I come.

Alright, apparently, since I was the first person to respond to Armin's post, I'm in charge of this thing... I'm cool with that, maybe I need to enlist my friend (who I got to buy a K6-2 450!) as an assistant. I guess my first move will be to post at 3dnow.net and try to get Pyscho_Clown (news guy at 3dnow.net) to plug it for us. I'll also put up a notice at my website.

Well, I spend too many hours on computers anyway, and am willing to help with getting 3dNow implemented into more apps and etc.. So what can I do to help. I don't have my own web page, but I do know how to put stuff up. Till the point where I don't like to do it

I love 3dnow.net for news and info on this matter and am willing to help if I can.

Firstly, I have a brief success story:

Jedi Mind Trick, who's on the 3dnow.net board a lot, agreed to put the get 3dnow button on his homepage. Ya!

Secondly, here's the direction I see us taking:

Going out, finding web sites that would benefit and would benefit us by supporting www.3dnow.org. Then ask, beg, insist, bully, et cetera, until they put the button on their home page.

Anyone else who has an idea, feel free to email me or post it here.

With the introduction of Athlon, and 3dnow2, spreading the 3dnow message should be easier than ever. Here are some ideas for sites we could try to get to support www.3dnow.org / 3DNow! technology:

Ace's Hardware : http://www.aceshardware.com/

AnandTech : http://www.anandtech.com/

The Super7 Hardware Guide : http://www.super7.net/

Thresh's Firing Squad : http://www.firingsquad.com/

Tweak3D : http://www.tweak3d.net/

Here's a draft of a letter we could send to webmasters. Let me know what could be done to improve it.
quote:
Hello,
On behalf of www.3DNow.org (http://www.3dnow.org) and the 3DNow! community, I am contacting you. www.3DNow.org’s mission (http://www.3dnow.org/mission.shtml) is to spread awareness about and use of 3DNow! to individuals, web sites, and companies. Because AMD / 3DNow! enhanced CPUs have captured a large portion of the market, the needs of those users cannot be ignored. Simply put : any product that could benefit from 3DNow! enhancements but does not have them is not the best option for consumers.
But to help spread this ideology we need support. And support takes the form of a small button displayed on your index page and linked to the www.3DNow.Org homepage and a few requirements. If you do review work, we ask that you give a bonus for 3DNow! support of products and withhold your top honors for products that do not support 3DNow! out of the box, this will be a strong incentive for manufacturers to act as it will mean a competitive advantage!
www.3DNow.Org will not compete with you on news or reviews, we'll bring the work of all contributors to focus - we're a directory and information repository. www.3DNow.Org leaves all reviews to the supporting websites and covers daily news only relevant to the campaign, this will not hurt you.
Because at least a portion of your readers use AMD / 3DNow! CPUs, it is in your own interests to support this initiative. The advancement of 3DNow! has no negative effects. It is in the best interest of all computer users. If you wish to support this project, simply email me (jason@mikula.com). Your site will be listed on www.3DNow.org as a supporter and if you submit a banner (468 x 60 pixels) it will be displayed and linked to your site.

Thank you.

It might be an idea too to reference them to our mission page ( http://www.3dnow.org/mission.shtml ) too.

Any other suggestions?

I have not yet received any feedback from Armin.

Barring any further suggestions, shall I go ahead and email those sites with said letter?

Letter looks good. I think the strategy should be that you go out, gather contact information on sites, post them here so everyone can write it down and then you send out a letter a day to the address, every day from another member until they join up.

It also wouldn't harm if you modified the letter individually while keeping the same basic information and intention so they don't just junk it

Maybe also add some questions regarding their site so they have to write a reply if they're courteous, i.e. whether they know how many 3DNow! users are among their readers and suggest they do a poll on it.

Most important: don't be a bully, but be persistant and friendly
