Various reports say that Battlezone 2 will not support 3DNow! and will support SSE. A move to boycott the product unless it includes 3DNow! support is underway, but what I'm wondering is : do you think supporting website/www.3dnow.org should support this? ------------------ IP: Logged |

I thought of some more to say... If BattleZone2 does in fact NOT include 3DNow! support, wouldn't all supporter sites have to give the game a lower rating/score? (by the agreement w/www.3dnow.org)? Also, with it supporting SSE, it would be a very simple "get-out" to produce for the new 3dnow instructions and claim full support, leaving K6-2/III users without any optimisations at all. IP: Logged |

This is a shame...cant the DOJ do anything about this? I mean, its pretty obvious that Intel is threatening, and paying computer makers and game developers NOT to use 3DNow! or Athlon, doesnt this violate some law? The feds got involved with Microsofts deal, IMO i think the situation with Intel is worse...so what gives? IP: Logged |

Chris, DOJ can do nothing about it , nor will it ever. People just should be more vocal, and less quick to buy games that dont support 3DNow!. That is the only thing we can do at this moment, and ofcourse let those developers know that no 3DNow! means no money. In the long run they cant survive being: taking money/support from Intel. But the way I see it is that they are monoplizing the industry, creating massive incentives for companies that use their product instead of AMD's, which is what MS did to Netscape, isnt that what started their court affairs? Intel is essentially doing the same thing, at least it looks that way to me, and I think it at least deserves a look from someone in the legal profession. -Chris IP: Logged |
