1) The distributed client that I used long long ago had a feature called "Modem Dialup Lurk-Only" - for those who donīt remember: the client fetched/flushed automatically when a dial-up conection was established. I think this is a very cool feature for us modem/isdn/... users. Are you going to implement something like that in future clients? 2) With most Computers doing >4 Blocks/h it would be good if you could set the max. out-buffer to more than 50... how about 200? Matze: 2) will be for the next rev. 1) I have to get a dial up connection to test that on... I don't have one (or maybe I should be smiling at the lack of dial up.. either way...) Steve IP: Logged |

Steve, I'm sure that you will have a lot of volunteers to test out the "lurk/lurk only" code. But if you do need someone, I am available. Joe. O. IP: Logged |

You can also set the buffer max's to be above 50 if you edit the ini file manually. IP: Logged |

How about better speed control? This program: http://www.utm.edu/research/primes/programs/gallot/ has three speeds and can change among them while running. A High option would be *really* nice to stop any program from interrupting my work. Edit: Heh, you caught me, MagicMan . Link fixed. Ken_g6, If you set BeNice=0 the client will instantly slow down when other programs need the CPU and then work at full speed again when no programs need the CPU. ------------------ IP: Logged |

My client is set to BeNice=0 but when it's not in the foreground it slows dramatically (almost a 10% decrease.) System Monitor (Win98) shows the CPU 5% or more idle when the client is in the background or run as a service. I mean, when set to high, I would like the client to work whether or not other programs want the CPU. Thanks! Ken ------------------ IP: Logged |
