I know of one ... in my local PC world. I think it'd be cheaper to buy the whole shop though ... IP: Logged |

Fester 3B and Athlon 600 - but it's an AMD review machine so that won't be much help. IP: Logged |

It seems the second question really hit the spot... So this all means the beast has not made it to the masses yet? It will be interesting to see whether there are reliable mobo choices available soon with all the woes they are having. If anyone of you guys get a retail Athlon/mobo combo, please post your personal thoughts about how it's working here. Thanks. IP: Logged |

I went to a local shop here in Norway, and I actually spotted a MSI SlotA Motherboard for $160! Aparently they`ve had them for some time. I also saw that they had some Athlons, but I didn`t se what speeds. IP: Logged |

Yes, I have a working Athlon 600 working in conjunction with an FIC SD11 MB. PC133 memory is hitched... IBM 34gxp 27.2 gig HDD. Only problem I've found is that the ACPI power monitoring is faulty or something, cause the suspend to harddisk function crashes the computer when activated. The "standby" mode works, except that I can't get it so turn back on Bascially the only working feature of power saving is being able to turn off the monitor. Other than that, the product(s) are great!! IP: Logged |

Thanks for the info Rev. At last some first hand info. Hmm, it sounds like a good idea to wait a little before getting a FIC then... Not that I'd be getting one, maybe next year or whenever the prices go below the 'pain threshold' as Armin put it. Meanwhile I can dream about having one... IP: Logged |

I got an Athlon 550 & BCM motherboard last weekend at a local shop (www.stspc.com). The combo only cost $549. $25 more for a Coolermaster fan/heatsink. Works just fine except that it didn't like the 128Mb DRAMs that had been working fine in several SS7 mobos. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Config note: Don't try installing WinAnything with all the PCI cards in. best to install with just the video card and then add cards one at a time after all the core drivers are in place. Reboot and reenable the ACPI in the BIOS inbetween adding cards, too. If you do that, then you'll probably have no IRQ problems. related note - disabling things like the FDC or COM2 doesn't release their IRQ's but mine is doing fine with 3 things sharing IRQ10 and two sharing IRQ9. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Correction, thats 'reset the ESCD' above, not ACPI. Too many acronyms. ------------------ IP: Logged |
