Upgrading to Vortex2 is like buying a whole new stereo system! When I first played Half-Life with my MX300 I almost peed my pants, it was just awesome! It also gives me an edge in deathmatches since I can tell where the ememy is coming from without lokking around! Anyone heard of ESS's Canyon3D chip that incorporates Sensaural Positional Audio? It is supposed to kick Vortex2's ass. IP: Logged |

The amazing thing is that you can tell if things are to the left, right, infront, behind and even above and below. The technology is truely awesome. As I say ... all you have to do is to play Half-Life and then you will know!!! One of the main differences between Vortex 1 and Vortex 2 is the fact that the Vortex 2 chip supports occlusions (Hearing music from behind a wall sounds very bassy etc) and reflections (How sounds bounce off walls). True - it does use more CPU time, but 3dnow! drivers are supposed to be in either the next or the next but one driver release, which should suit it perfectly. IP: Logged |
