I emailed the guys at Aureal a few weeks ago and found that they were planning to support 3dnow! in their drivers for the Vortex 2 chipset (As I understand it the Vortex 1 chipset does not support wavetracing).

The only catch is that they are not going to be doing this until the current Vortex 2 drivers are sorted out (2031 drivers have been sent to Microsoft for certification I read today)

The way I understand it, both cards use the same a3d drivers, so maybe they are now in the works.

To be honest though, the latest drivers used only a little processor anyway, so differences may not be noticeable until more complex games are out.

Ive got to say to anyone though that a3d 2 is absolutely brilliant, and it turns Half-Life into a completely different game.

Hope this helps

isnt the catch behind doing the drivers that the cpu doesnt need to swap from 3dnow instruction to regular instructions saving allot of cpu overhead ?
