I know nothing about Linux, but since there are no responses yet... Did you run it like this:

./setiathome

PS. Why does the dot and slash need to be there? I tried plain 'setiathome' at first, but it wouldn't work. Then from somewhere I got this ./ thing.

you have to use ./ if your current directory you are in is not in the path (add . to the path string).

Otherwise ./app just means run app in the current "local directory"

i solved it, for the time being, i have installed the binary in the /usr/local/bin directory, and when running a terminal need to change directory to that one.

did quite a nice trick, used the http proxy option wich allows it to connect trough a proxy to seti, i ran a proxy on my windows machine and it looks good, my winchip 225@200 is kicking ASS :-) (i think)

Wich clients can i use on that one , the 686 ones dont work.

It sux you can't use the 686 client on a K6-X. Like the intel processors were that much better...

So much for SETI's claim that they don't want individually optimized clients
