OK here goes:

Work computer: K6-2 400 (350 o/c) w/ 128 PC100 - WU: 20 hours (avg)

Home Computer: K6-2 504 (475 o/c 4.5x112) w/ 128 PC100 - WU: 40 hours (avg)

Both computers have nothing running in the background. Screen saver blank mode.

What's the deal with this. My 504 Mhz should be pumping out WU in 10-15 hours max. I would think.

Any ideas??

Ray

My K6/2 350 overclocked to 400 runs the same as yours. I have no idea why your 504 is so much behind? My wife's K6/2 266 overclocked to 300 runs around 25 hours.

Which client are you using? Your numbers suggest it's the Win GUI 1.00. That one is slow (draws the gfx even if they are not shown). Suggested client is CLI or GUI 1.06 (I don't care what others say, to me they both go as fast/slow).

I'm using the Win Vers. 1.06 Client, same as the work computer.

I just setup another computer for parts I had hanging around: K6 200 MMX o/c to 225 (3x75) with 32 MB RAM. This computer will only be used to pump out WU.

Well, got to get to work. Hopefully I have no trouble connecting to the SETI server tonight so I can get a WU for the other system.

Later,

Ray

Right now I'm running ver 1.3 on two computers.

One is a K62-350 (400) with 64 megs.
It can finish a WU is about 20 hours.
I also have a K6-166 with 64 megs running 1.3 and it finishes in about 30 hours. Since the second computer was made primarilty of old parts, it dosen't have a modem.

I found that I can run the 1.3 client on that and just switch the floppy to my machine with the modem whenever I need anouther WU. I think I'm going to start doing this at work. I've got 2 PII 400s with 128 meg at my disposal. I know, I know...Intel sux. But hey, I didn't get a choice on what the company bought.

What´s the latency of the memory at the 504?
Are enabled both caches?

I finally figured it out. The Auto Receive on my Winfax controller was on. Took it off, and now it looks like about 15 hours per WU.

Winfax is a fex/voice software. There is a Controller that sits in the icon tray to access various function quickly. One of those functions is to automacticly pickup & receive faxes if someone tries to fax me something.

Hope that clears things up.

Ray

P.S. My extra system that I slapped together from used parts (K6 200 o/c 225) is putting out WU in a little over 24 hours. Win Vers 1.06 client w/ Win 98.
