I'm interested if some members of our
team have an Athlon based system @ home
or work. Write if you do and tell us
about the time which is passing to
process a unit.

thank you

And was'up with the 3Dnow! optimization ??
Does it work or is it forbidden to use ?

I've got an Athlon 550 but am applying it to the RC5 effort. In the mailing list for SETI@Home, one of their people recently stated that they would not use different FFT code for the different clients/platforms as it was too much trouble and that they were already getting data back fast enough to not need any more speed. While I like SETI's goals their approach is just turning me off.

TNT2, SCSI Ctrlr, 2 HD's (1 7200rpm, 1 SCSI), sound card, network card, 2 chassis fans, DVD, LS120

Note that, as the AMD docs point out, sheer power supply power means nothing as those supplies certified by them have to be able to supply power within spec over a wide range of demand variations; with abrupt load changes on different rails often happening (due to the big switching power supply on the motherboard feeding the CPU. Simplest solution is to get a power supply on their list before looking elsewhere or solutions.

I sorta live in Europe, which means that i need to make a science project on how to find a 300Watt psu that works, let alone be on the list.

i had a model that was on the list the CWT-300, but on my FIC SD-11 it didnt allow my 2930 scsi to be used next to my TNT2U nor my voodoo2 was functioning when put next to any video card (pci or agp).

That seems a bit vague, so i asked some people to list their setup like u kindly did to make a diagnoses of the problem and how i would be able to solve it.

I've never had -any- card work correctly when in the PCI slot directly next to the AGP slot if I was also using an AGP video card. Also, lots of reports that the FIC SD11 won't work with any SCSI cards. I'm doubting that but if everyone is trying to run them in that slot...

Mine 2930 SCSI controller sorta works, but not with the TNT2 installed and only buggy , but i dont know if that is due to the psu.

I set up the 650 model here in the lab to do some SETI while we don't need it for benchmarking .. it makes godawful noise with it's two plane engine fans on the cooler, though Should do a unit in 8 hours on average.

wow, mine has a dual fan too :-) . Jedi just told me he got the seti commandline version to do a unit near 6 hours. Sorta by freeing up windows resources up to 95%.

Atleast that is what he told me.

Pieter

Ok, added the 600 MHz Athlon review machine I still have from Full On 3D. It's doing both SETI and RC5 now (some of the guys on the RC5 team were moving in too close for comfort
