Can anyone help. I went to upload my SETI work unit and it comes back with this: "bad header error" and simply kicks me out. I can not upload my completed unit,or download a new unit. I uninstalled SETI and reinstalled it. The little icon came back flashing red saying that SETI needs my attention, but once again I just get the "bad header error" WTF, does anyone know a work around? Until then there will be no more SETI units from me. At one unit every 8.5 hours that is a significant loss for the team. Thanks in advance. IP: Logged |

i got one of them today, so this is what i had to do. go into program files, then into the seti folder, delete the header and the result. your going to lose the work unit like i did, but you will download a new unit. hope that helps. i dont know what caused it, but thats how i took care of it. good luck. I got this same error just a half an hour ago. I was kinda pissed as my K6-2 had just finished the fastest unit yet, about 16 hrs. however I just retried a few times and finally the client just said that 'all data sent' and the user info from seti@home web site had added that unit. However now i'm unable to get a new unit...getting connection timeouts. perhaps i should get that program that stores work units... So perhaps they have a server problems again? Btw, that was my 41st unit. Voriax IP: Logged |

i emailed the problem to seti. i dont know how soon they will answer, but hopefully we can dig that result file out of the trash and send it in later. IP: Logged |

Ok..got a new WU. But the client still says I've done only 40 units. also I forgot to mention in the earlier post that the WU had been sent and then the error msg appeared. I still believe it was a server problem, perhaps it wasn't able to acknowledge the arrival of a WU? AS for the queue, here's a link to a program named setiqueue http://www.reneris.com/seti/default.htm haven't tried it yet but i'm sure someone has? With this I could leave my computer crunching for weekends too when I'm away. Voriax IP: Logged |

ok team heres how to send in your units that had a bad header.shut down seti, go to c drive, program files, seti folder, open the folder, move these 2 files to desktop... work unit and result header. then go to the waste basket and move the file header and result back to the seti folder. then start seti again. as soon as it says data sent, close down seti, and open seti folder again, move the 2 files that you moved to desktop back into the seti folder, then fire up seti. good luck! worked for me. Great tip fredo, I'll try it a little later.. Have you seen the CUmine review over at Ace's. It looks like those Intel Engineers did a pretty good job with that old core. Got to give them credit. Now it is AMD's turn to crank up the numbers. IP: Logged |

i read somewhere that amd is already producing 900mhz chips, they just arent going to release them until intel gets something faster than what they have on the market. hopefully in feb. i can get a athlon 650 or 700. i envy those who already own one. IP: Logged |

That is the primary reason I am pleased to see the CUmine make a strong showing. AMD will undoubedly break out a bigger gun (or two), I have already o/c'd my 500 to 600 and I am planning on shooting for 700 as soon as I have finished designing the air induction system that I plan to use. I want to stay away from peltiers or water cooling for now. 600Mhz is pretty darn sweet. But I just picked up the extra 0504 package resistors required to get me further. IP: Logged |
