No offense fredro, but you cannot just add up MHZ and come up with a magic number that means anything. For instance the Athlon 500 FPU is as strong as a PIII 600 (excluding Coppermine). And that 8200 is a whole different beast altogether. Like trying to compare an Atari 2600 to a Sony Playstation. Pierce IP: Logged |

i asked for the performance rating, ,and yes i do know how a athlon 500 performs to a p3 500, as well as a k6-2 500. im trying several things here. i would like to know what everyones running, i would like to watch the times to see how certain systems perform, and most of all, im just trying to make this forum active. im not completly computer illiterate, but there is still a whole lot of knowlege i seek, and osiris has a machine there that i would like to know more about. btw pierce, what ya hiding under the hood? I got: K6-III 450MHz All runs RC5 but I'm planning to let the K6-III and the P2 400 run DNet also. The Athlon stays at RC5 (A friends machine) and the remaining machines will run whatever I feel like installing on them (RC5 or DNet). ------------------ IP: Logged |

Postmand Per, are you trying to take over all the Top 100 spots in the RC5 team with all your accounts? K6-III 400 - rc5 (7-12 hours a day, win/linux seti occasionally) pentium 133 - rc5 (24/7) IP: Logged |

I wouldn't mind that :-) I would be nice though if that %"ยค& sysadm would stop loading these images so the client get overwritten I'll have to install the client every now and then on the machines and since I'm so lazy the client is only installed on about 10 machines instead of on all 35 machines (30 P2 350MHz, 5 P3 450MHz, and a few P2 266MHz) If just the sysadm would install the client in the image he use and then roll it out on all the machines on the school (150-200 machines in total) and make the machines run 24/7.... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Beta test e-mails: I will be replying to those soon.. I'm just osrting good from 'okay' or 'unacceptible' candidates at the moment. As for teh HPUX box with no load is does seti in about 5.5-6 hours.. but load varies heavily. Steve IP: Logged |
