if you go to this website it will pretty much answer your questions. http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu / but as a team, we are just being competitive.  hopefully though one us will get a magic work unit with a voice from another civilization. that would be better than just getting 1000`s of units. maybe the version of seti you have was written before the athlon? im not sure.IP: Logged |

Hey, Myxy. Get 2.0 from SETI@home if you don't already have it. If you do, did ya check to make sure your Athlon isn't a remarked Pentium MMX(heh, heh) ?

i desire nothing more than "as many units as possible" so im not biased here, i believe 2.0 is considerably faster. i have ran, the cmdline, 1.6 and 2.0 and trust me, 2.0 smokes. heck i have gained about 1 and 1/2 units a day by switching to 2.0. but thats my own experience, if anyone has a different oppinion, please post, so i dont misinform anyone. I think it would be great if we found someother things out there in space and they came here to take us for a ride in there big bug ship...Ha Ha Ha Its just competition right now so lets giver . As far as Ver2.0, i found it about was about 1.5hrs per unit faster on my K6-2 350@400 bringing me down into the low 16hr range. Luckily for me i just plugged a new K6 3 400 into my board yesterday and am down into the low 14hr range right now. After reading what msantos said i decided i needed one of these chips and i found a place selling them for 95 bucks canadian What a fast chip this thing is, its defintely faster than my buddies P2 350 and it really gave my vid card a nice kick . Sounds as if you've overlooked that the installer installs S@H as screensaver again! Put it back to blank screen and wooosh!
