I have the same problem. It would seem you cannot join the team until you are in the stats to get your password mailed to you from there.

You get to your stats page from within the client using the Help/Online/My personal stats link on the menu bar. So far I am not listed, though.

I'm Carlos, the rc5 coordinator.

The distributed.net stats server is only updated once a day. You can start processing blocks independently and, after you see yourself in your stats page, do this:

-In your stats page (Help/Online/My stats page), get your password.
-Search for team 3dnow! in the stats server (stats.distributed.net) and click on the team name. Or directly go here
-On the team page click "I want to join this team!". It will ask for your email address and password.
-Give us some kkeys/s!!!

As of today, we have 4 members, but are WAY below the rate of the bigger, top 10 teams like AnandTech (1.600.000 kkeys/sec, more than a thousand members)
BTW, I'd like to ask people to avoid clicking on the "email the team password to the coordinator" button. I have it already

Cash benefits: yes, 1000$ if you find the key and 1000$ to the team. Better than an alien, isn't it?
CPU power: WAY less than SETI@Home. It runs as an idle process, so it only works when the CPU is idle (seti works all the time or only when the screensaver is on). I wouldn't recommend it if you're using Rainfall or CPUIdle to keep the cpu cool, though.
Linux client: yes. I've got both running (win32/linux), and I configured them to use the same buffers so they process the same data whatever OS im using. I haven't benchmarked them, but the Linux version is multithreaded and should be scorching hot on a SMP system.
I'll run some benchmarks on my k6-2 300 on both. Post on that later.

Iīve just installed the Linux-client but I canīt connect to the server(s) - I allways get a "canīt resolve name" - error. Ping to the server works without problems.
Does anyone know what I did wrong during configuration?

Did you properly set your nameserver (and only using the IP, not the hostname)? Assigned the default route to the internet connection?

Are you using a router/gateway/proxy server?
Check if the box that redirects the IP packets is set to allow port 2064 routing.

Hello, Armin and Siniestro!

Hmm, using only the IP seems to work.
But ping to euro.v27.distributed.net works, too.
I think the client does not like my ippp0-configuration, he "says" that I'm online even when I'm offline. (BTW, SETI runs without problems) Anyway, using the IP works so it's ok for now...

thanks
Matze

You can pass a parameter to make it check whether you're connected or not, (try rc5des -lurkonly)
You can also set it on the configuration, run "rc5des -ini [your config file] -config", go to section "Buffer and buffer update options", then "keyserver<->client connectivity".
There you should check "Interfaces to watch" and "modem detection options". If you still have trouble connecting to the keyserver, the solution should be also in this menu.

Just posting to make it show on the latest topics so new people can get problems solved.

BTW, anyone who has doubts about installing RC5DES under Windows should look at the www.3dnow.org RC5-64 page that Armin posted.
