I completed 300+ units yesterday, but only 23 of them showed up. Hopefully they appear in todays count...

It appears to me that they ran the stats about 2 to 3 hours earlier than normal yesterday.

Alright, now I want to know what is going on... yesterday 75 and today 105. I normally run 175+!

Yesterday I did switch over to a newer version... 2.7112.444b to be exact. Is this just coincidence? I was running the old 2.7106 GUI client before.

If everyone's 1st experience of RC5-64 is as bad as mine I'm surprised you have any team members at all !

I've been running seti@home for a couple of months now and thought I'd have a change so I carefully read the instructions on http://www.3dnow.org/rc5.shtml and tried to download the Windows 32bit client.

That was the 1st problem - since 9th Sept they have removed the GUI and I ended up with a menu driven version which is not so easy to configure (well not for a newbie at any rate).

Okay, I got it working although I'm not really sure how fast its crunching keys. I am totally at a loss as to how you monitor your progress. Is their the equivalent of the seti@home personal statistics page - because I sure as hell can't find one !!???

That aside I wanted to join the 3DNow! team (naturally), but I canĂt because my password is so well hidden I simply can't find that either !

Note: This isn't because I'm stupid - I've spent the last 20 years writing software for a living. The lack of these instructions must be hindering a lot of new users from taking on this project.

The last straw was when I left it running over night. My PC is set to power off everything bar the CPU when their is no activity (this usually leaves seti@home chugging happily), but horror of horrors, when I came to the PC this morning the RC5 client was just sitting there with a pop up menu (right click ?) - it had not done a single thing all night !!!

It doesn't look like I'll be able to contribute much to your team, but it wasn't through lack of trying.

The stats are buried on the stats page at http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64 /

Okay, after a fair bit of digging I found a clue ! The FAQ at http://www.distributed.net/FAQ/statsfaq.html#st2000 seems to imply that I can't have a password for the first 24 hours (because I don't show any results yet) - weird !

I found this in D. Bakers .plan:

:: 11-Sep-1999 07:38 (Saturday) ::

Your stats may be significantly lower than normal. Please don't panic; we are aware of the problem and working to process the data that didn't make it into last night's stats run.

Standby for more information.

Hope the fix the problem soon...

For anyone interested. I just got this in.

.plan updates in the last 24 hours:
---
dbaker :: 12-Sep-1999 19:17 (Sunday) ::

Stats still have not been updated to reflect the blocks that didn't make it to stats
on 09/01/1999, 09/10/1999, and 09/11/1999. We are very aware of this problem; it is
unnecessary to email anyone about your missing blocks.

While I manually sort those logs, others are working on ensuring that this problem
does not occur again. Time frame for recovery and more information will be posted
here RSN(tm).

Thanks for your patience.

Well thats another 8 hours processing lost as the v2.7112.444-CTR-99072212 client decided to sleep the entire night.

Someone please let me know when they fix the W98 GUI and I'll try that - meanwhile its back to seti !

Pierce, I'm using the Win 9x GUI client 2.7106.436. I want the thing to be buried in the systray and not to show in the taskbar. That's why I like the GUI client. I can't recall that I'd ever had any problems with that version.

Let's hope all the missing blocks will be recovered. There will be a nice burst in stats when that happens.

Akma, the new CLI version places it in the systray instead of the taskbar. However I would recommend you staying with your GUI client as I wish I had. There is no real speed difference.

I have tried the Win CLI, GUI and the Linux version and have had no significant speed differences to speak of.
